GOLDEN RULES IN LESSON PLANNING

Golden rules when planning a lesson:

  1. Always think of the aim before planning a lesson
  2. Think of the problems you are likely to encounter when teaching/practising the target language.
  3. Always use vocabulary students already know when presenting new structures.
  4. Do pronunciation in the class.
  5. The most important thing of a language is that you can communicate with it. Students need to practise the language in the classroom to be able to manipulate it when talking freely outside the class. So plan an active lesson, they love standing up and walking round the class talking in English.
  6. It is not necessary to practice all 4 skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) in one lesson.
  7. Logic steps in a lesson (presentation, controlled practice and free practice).
